National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson recently shared tax filing tips and addressed issues taxpayers may face during the tax filing season this year during a series of interviews on the tax filing season. Ms. Olson spoke with journalists and participated in a live call-in session, offering taxpayers an opportunity to ask tax questions in a real-time setting.
Throughout the interviews, Ms. Olson emphasized how the Taxpayer Advocate Service works with taxpayers experiencing IRS tax issues and provides help to get resolution.
Particularly important this year, the Tax Advocate spoke on recent tax reform tax law changes, including the new simplified IRS Form 1040 and the changes taxpayers will notice when filing their tax returns. Ms. Olson further stressed the importance of improving tax administration to better serve taxpayer needs.
